Fusion is an exercise-based, body awareness class utilizing principles from Yoga and Pilates for breathing, alignment, focus, strength, elongation, balance, and movement. Light props are added to increase challenge and augment pattern formation. Modifications and alternative exercises are offered throughout.
Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the entire body using low or non-impact exercises. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. The core, consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, low back, and hips, is often called the "powerhouse" and is thought to be the key to a person's stability. Modifications are provided for all fitness levels.
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activities of daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
